Assessment Context:
Assessment task details and instructions
Global geopolitical unrests have had significant impacts on supply chains by disrupting trade routes, causing delays in shipments, increasing transportation and production costs, and creating uncertainties in the availability of raw materials and finished products. Global industries, including energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and retail, have had to adapt to these challenges by seeking alternative sources, adjusting supply chain strategies, and managing increased costs. These disruptions have led to price fluctuations, shortages, and increased costs for businesses and consumers worldwide.
These geopolitical unrests highlight the critical need for companies to be proactive in strengthening their supply chains. By focusing on resilience, sustainability, and human- centric strategies, businesses can better navigate the uncertainties of the global landscape and maintain stability in their operations and markets.
Select an industry or sector for this assessment: Choose one that you are passionate about or believe is at a critical point due to geopolitical unrests and supply chain disruptions.
Assessment Questions:
1.Identify at least five most predominant challenges resulting from recent and potential geopolitical unrest. Analyse the impacts of each challenge on the supply chain of the industry or sector you have chosen. Ensure your findings are supported by current research. (1000 words, 30%)
2.Critically analyse and propose strategic approaches to minimise the risks associated with the five geopolitical challenges identified in task 1 above. Ensure your strategies are actionable to develop a human-centric, sustainable, and resilient supply chain. Also, discuss the potential effectiveness and any limitations of each strategy. Ensure your findings are supported by current research. (1000 words, 35%)
3.Identify the essential skills and competencies necessary for supply chain managers to minimise the risks associated with five geopolitical challenges (identified in Task 1) and to develop a human-centric, sustainable, and resilient supply chain (discussed in Task 2). Ensure your prediction and evaluation are supported by current research. (1000 words, 35%)
Note: For each question above, you should support your arguments by bringing into the critical analysis the justification of choices made and examples of companies and/or case studies that belong to the selected sector/industry. In your answers, real-life examples and multiple sources of information (Minimum 10 each task) must support your analysis, proposals and recommendations.
You will also need to consider the following when completing your assignment:
