Assessment task details and instructions

Create a portfolio with 3 sections. You should complete this as a single document and upload it as a PDF document. You must complete all 3 sections below:

Part 1: Your personal skills development plan.

  • Identify 3 professional skills you want to develop this

  • Use SMART targets to create a skills development plan demonstrating the actions you will take to build those skills.

 

Part 2: Your CV.

  • Your CV demonstrating your skills, knowledge and experience (2 pages maximum) that conforms to UK employer conventions.

 

Part 3: Write a 500-word reflective account of your professional development on the PCSE module.

  • Critically reflect on one or more points below:
    • your experience on the PCSE module.
    • your experience of writing your CV and using CareerSet.
    • your experience on Bodyswaps.
  • Use a reflective model as a guide, focusing on what you’ve learnt and what is next.
  • You must cite and reference appropriately using APA 7th as per the University of Salford guidance.

On successful completion of this assessment, you will be able to:

  1. Identify key features of UK workplace culture and recruitment processes (internships, work placements and graduate job market).
  2. Produce CVs that use professional language, grammar and punctuation, and align with UK employer expectations.
  3. Formulate an action plan to support you in developing the skills, competencies, and behaviours sought by employers.

AI tools that are permitted for support during the CV part of the assessment such as CareerSet will be explained in class.

Students are expected to write their reflection and skills development plans WITHOUT the use of AI as they are personal to each student and related to the concept of continuing professional development.
There is only a word count for Part 3 of the portfolio which is a reflective writing of 500 words. You may have a limit of +/- 10% 500 words for Part 3.


Feedback arrangements

You can expect to receive feedback within 15 working days of the submission date. Feedback will be provided in written form via Turnitin.
