How we vet every tutor

Tutoring is unregulated in the UK, which means anyone can advertise. Our process exists so you do not have to take that risk.

  1. Application and qualification evidence. Every applicant must supply certificates for the degree they claim. We verify them before interview.
  2. Subject interview. A specialist in the same field tests actual subject knowledge, not just teaching enthusiasm.
  3. Teaching demonstration. Applicants teach a real topic to a real brief. We look for whether they hand the work back to the student rather than performing.
  4. Identity verification. Government-issued ID checked against the application.
  5. Trial period. Early sessions are reviewed and student feedback is read individually, not just averaged.
  6. Ongoing rating. Tutors who fall below our standard stop receiving bookings.

Choosing the right tutor

Four things matter more than the hourly rate.

Subject match, not just faculty match. "Business" is not a subject. A strategy specialist may be the wrong person for management accounting. Ask who has taught your specific module content.

Level experience. Teaching a master's dissertation is a different job from teaching a first-year HND unit. Both are skilled; they are not interchangeable.

Familiarity with your marking criteria. A tutor who has worked to your institution's rubric will target the bands you are losing marks in immediately.

Continuity. The same tutor over several sessions knows your habits, your gaps and your writing voice. Continuity compounds; switching resets it.

If we do not have the right specialist for your module, we will tell you rather than taking the booking and hoping. That happens perhaps once a fortnight and it is the reason our ratings hold up.

Tutor FAQs

Are your tutors qualified and verified?
Yes. Every tutor is interviewed by a specialist in the same field, must evidence the degree they claim, and passes identity verification before teaching. Over 70% hold a PhD or a professional qualification.
How much do tutors cost?
Rates range from £29 to £46 per hour depending on subject and seniority, with a 10-hour package at £280. Statistical analysis is from £40 per hour. The first 20-minute consultation is free.
Can I choose my own tutor?
Yes. Tell us which tutor you would like and we will check their availability, or describe your module and we will match you to the right specialist.
What if my tutor is not the right fit?
Tell us within 24 hours of your first session with a new tutor and we will rematch you with a different specialist at no cost.
Can I keep the same tutor throughout my course?
Yes, and we recommend it. Term packages include the same tutor throughout, because continuity produces noticeably faster progress.
Do tutors work in my time zone?
We have tutors covering UK, US, Australian and Gulf time zones, with evening and weekend availability in each.
